·       How do I know what to teach in a school year?

·       How do I know if I am doing enough for my child with special needs?

·       How do I implement his IEP at home?

·       What does the state of PA expect from me?

This course will help you think from the big picture down to the nitty gritty of designing your homeschool for next year. You, as the parent, know your child best so your homeschool can be the Ultimate Individualized Educational Plan.

Sarah Collins, MSOT, OTR/L is an occupational therapist with a background in both pediatrics and home health.  In fact, working as an OT actually led her to homeschooling.  When in a client’s home, Sarah was introduced to homeschooling and was amazed at the atmosphere of learning within the home.  Later that year, due to a move, the opportunity to begin the Collins Academy of Excellence arose.  Though the style of homeschooling has changed and morphed over the years, the overarching goal of ushering the kids towards their specific purpose has remained.  After 2 years of homeschooling, Sarah consistently noticed that families were asking the same questions and though were experts on their child, could benefit from consulting with an occupational therapist for guidance within their homeschools.  She consults on

·       A specific need in a person (ie- provide the best resources for ongoing treatment)

·       A specific need for a family (ie-daily routine recommendations)

·       A change in the environment (ie-work station modifications or ergonomics)

·       A change in the activity (ie-curriculum or adaptations to games)
