The Army Heritage Center Foundation is the sponsoring organization for National History Day in Pennsylvania (NHD in PA). NHD engages students in grades 6-12 in the process of discovery and interpretation of historical topics. Students produce dramatic performances, imaginative exhibits, multimedia documentaries, web sites and papers based on research related to an annual theme. The 2017 theme is "Taking a Stand in History." Individually or in teams of two to five, the students will research an issue or historical event characterized by controversy, argument, and negotiation to discover and explain the success or failure of a particular approach and the consequences of the outcome. Student projects are evaluated at local, regional, state, and national competitions.
The 2017 NHD in PA State Contest will take place on May 12 and 13, 2017, at Carlisle Area High School, 623 W Penn St, Carlisle, PA 17013 Find out more about contests in your county at National History Day in PA.
